“I don’t wanna die, I just want to leave you all behind.” If you can’t relate to that line, you may be missing out on some critical element of the human experience. Porlolo is more than just a band, it is singer/songwriter Erin Roberts’ vehicle for existential exploration (and fun). The instrumentation is tastefully minimal yet masterfully performed. As it should be.Roberts enlisted some heavy hitters to fill out the songs on Awards. Members of Beach House, The Still Tide, and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats all contributed to the finished product. The songs are unrelentingly beautiful with energetic bursts tossed in sparingly to keep you engaged.
