Live Entertainment Will Die Unless We Act Now

Groups like We Make Events and NIVA can only do so much. It is up to us, right now, not just in November.

As COVID rages on, the Colorado music industry continues to buckle under pressure. Venues, private contractors, and artists are now feeling the strain as PPP loans and CARES act funding runs out. Groups known as We Make Events and NIVA (Save Our Stages) are pushing to keep this funding going, as we head into a whole host of unknowns lurking around the corner this Fall.

What You Need To Know:

  • We Make Events North America is spearheading the #RedAlertRESTART Day of Action on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, with up to 1,500 buildings lit in red in over 50 cities from coast-to-coast, from 9pm-midnight (local time).
  • The Live Events Industry is urging Congress to pass the RESTART Act, as well as extend and expand PUA for 1099 workers and FPUC to provide financial assistance to the unemployed.
  • The Colorado Music industry was on track for its best year yet.
  • This along with the #Saveourstages act are vital for the survival of venues and by extension many industries that rely on live events.

    • 96% of companies have cut staff
    • 97% of 1099 workers have lost their jobs
    • Businesses are failing under a lack of income and economic pressure, which is only projected to intensify over the coming months.
    • The supply chain has been COMPLETELY devastated under the weight of cancellations and unknown futures.
  • Unless we act now and pass the RESTART act and the Save Our Stages act, the metrics are only going to get more devastating for the live industry during the next six months.
