FoCoMX Festival Postpones To 2021, Offers A Digital Alternative

As the pandemic rages on, FoCoMX is the latest victim for summer concerts.

The Fort Collins Musicians Association (FoCoMA) has been monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and following the orders and recommendations of the CDC, the State of Colorado and the Larimer County Health Department to determine how safe it would be to host FoCoMX in 2020.

As of this writing, there are still restrictions in regard to mass gatherings. The US just surpassed 5 Million cases and we might be looking at temporary business closures, once again, going into the fall.

It is because of all of these factors that FoCoMA has made the decision to cancel the “in-person” Fort Collins Music eXperiment music festival for 2020.

Back in March, the event rescheduled its usual April dates to Sept 4 and 5, 2020, due to COVID-19. “FoCoMA has made this tough decision based on the health and safety of our musicians and community members.”

But not to worry, the show will go on.

FoCoMX has been reimagined into two safe musical options. Music fans can see live music at the in-person(ish) concert series, “FoCoMX Drive & Jive” every Tuesday at the Holiday Twin through the end of October.

Each concert hosts three Colorado acts from diverse genres, live, on stage, which is then broadcast onto the big screen above, allowing audience members to safely enjoy the show from the comfort of their vehicles.

Another new addition: fans can now participate in sharing their photos and memories of past festivals during FoCoMX: A Digital Retrospective held exclusively online on September 4 and 5 via FoCoMA and FoCoMX social media channels.
