Pivot To Streaming: No Special Occasion Livestream

Live shows are out for the foreseeable future, but luckily there are some pioneering artists in the Denver Music scene pushing the boundaries of what’s possible right now.

The Denver music scene has been suffering since the dawn of this pandemic back in February, with no conceivable end in sight. While Venues are at risk of failing due to relief funding stalling and a complete lack of income for the sake of public health, No Special Occasion has some other ideas.

Instead of the usual summer festivals, musicians have been turning to livestreaming to generate whatever profits they can off of their art. While initially this pivot was sloppy, at best, and gave a copious ammount of control to big corprate overlords, such as Facebook and Instagram, there are many who have stuck it out and are devising new ways to stay afloat during COVID times.

The No Special Occasion crew made up of Milky.WAV, Tyler Hallock, and IAMGRUV are putting together a “special” occasion livestream on Saturday to raise funds for Palm Wine Collective,  a Black creative arts collective that is deepening the conversation around the African diaspora through innovative cultural experiences.

No Special Occasion is known in the Denver Music scene for their first Saturday of the month live events at Club 715 during the before times, however, during the ongoing and worsening pandemic, No Special Occasion has pivoted and pioneered the digital live format.

Other partnerships for No Special Occasion include a one-of-a-kind t-shirt that you can snag if you give a minimum donation of $20 during the event. I got one and, I have to say, it’s pretty rad.

No Special Occasion partnered with Lawrence & Larimer – a Denver boutique on East Colfax to create the one-of-a-kind t-shirt. No Special Occasion is looking for a minimum of a $20 donation for the shirt, which covers shipping and handling. 100% of donations will go back to local BIPOC businesses and collectives – Palm Wine Collective being one of many Black-owned Denver-based beneficiaries.

What you can expect from the stream:

Expect (at least) Four Hours of Moombahton, Baile Funk, and more. No Special Occasion is focused on bringing their love of club music from all around the world to the Denver Music scene while providing a space to escape the cliché (digital stream) nightlife scene.

Tune in on Twitch
Saturday August 1st at 5PM!
