An upward trend is establishing itself in the numbers for Colorado’s Coronavirus Pandemic. This is worrisome for experts and Colorado Governor Jared Polis. It is a gradual curve, however, it will exponentially spiral out of control without proper countermeasures, as shown by numbers in Texas, Arizona, Florida, and California over the past few weeks.
“What we are doing is close, but it isn’t quite working…we need to do better,” said Governor Polis at a press conference on Tuesday. “The underlying message here is that cases are growing slowly, but consistently and that is the wrong trend…If we do these things successfully [social distancing and masks] we will defeat the virus in Colorado, but we are continually coming up a bit short.”
The past eleven days have seen a consistent rise in cases with over 400 being added today. Currently, there are 252 hospitalized COVID across the state out of a possible ICU capacity of 552. Polis stated that the hope is to avoid having to delay elected surgeries to free up beds.
