Get Ready, here comes another Bandcamp sale!
The music platform is once again waiving its fees for a 24-hour period, allowing all proceeds to go directly to artists. This isn’t for Bandcamp, a few months ago they did their first direct-to-artist sale. During the first sale, users spent $4.3 Million, a new record that was shattered when on May 1st they did it again, with a whopping $7.1 million going into the pockets of artists and labels.
Bandcamp has also released an update to their artist guidebook so if you are a lowly musician who is (most likely) struggling in this new era of concert-less, live-streaming malaise, get to reading. There are some valuable tips and tricks that will help before the next direct-to-artist-sale.
For everyone else, get ready to kick your favorite acts a few bones. As the CEO of Bandcamp put it:
“It may sound simple, but the best way to help artists is with your direct financial support, and we hope you’ll join us through the coming months as we work to support artists in this challenging time.”
