The name A Vintage Future perfectly describes the steampunk aesthetic that this band embraces, both sonically and visually. It’s more metal than anything else, but there a number of other ingredients in the pot. At times, the vocals sound “pop,” which probably attracts more listeners than it turns off. It is refreshing to hear diversity in a genre where singers are generally split between guttural noise-makers and the disciples of Rob Halford. Every musician in the band displays mastery of their instrument on this release and there are some really cool interludes and production techniques that will keep even the most astute listener entertained until the end.
